Gorillas are sub divided into Lowland and mountain gorillas. Mountain gorillas are endemic to the regions of the borders of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. There are currently just over 700 mountain gorillas left in the wild thanks to an aggressive campaign by wildlife conservations and the efforts of the above mentioned three countries.
When tracking gorillas, visitors are required to wear sturdier clothing to protect them against stinging nettles, and solid walking shoes. A hat and sunglasses provide protection against the sun, and a waterproof jacket may come in handy in the moist mountains More on tracking
