Gorilla habituation
Gorilla habituation in Uganda is a careful and lengthy process where researchers and rangers gradually acclimate wild mountain gorillas to human presence over two to five years. This process involves spending daily time near the gorillas, slowly reducing the distance while earning their trust to enable closer, safer encounters. Unlike regular trekking, habituation offers a unique four-hour experience with fewer visitors, allowing participants to observe gorillas more intimately as they continue their natural behaviors, primarily in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
