Welcome to ugandagorillatours.com (the “Site”), operated by Uganda Gorilla Tours (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “the Company”), based in Kampala, Uganda. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Site and any tours, safaris, gorilla permits, accommodation, transport, or related services (collectively, “Services”) booked through us.
By accessing the Site or booking any Service with us, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or book our Services.
1. About Us
Uganda Gorilla Tours arranges gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safaris, wildlife tours, and related travel services in Uganda, Rwanda, and the surrounding East and Central African region. We act as a tour operator and, in some cases, as an agent arranging services provided by third parties such as national park authorities, lodges, airlines, and transport providers.
Registered Address: Kigo Rd, Lubowa, Close to Sapphire Hotel, Kampala, Uganda Email: info@ugandagorillatours.com Phone: +256-700135510
2. Bookings and Confirmation
- A booking is only confirmed once we have received your required deposit and issued written confirmation.
- You are responsible for ensuring that all information you provide (names, passport details, dates of birth, nationality, and travel dates) is accurate and matches your travel documents, since this information is used to secure gorilla permits and other bookings that cannot be amended once submitted to the relevant authority.
- Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking permits are subject to availability at the time of booking and are issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, Rwanda Development Board, or equivalent bodies, not by us directly.
- Prices quoted are per person unless otherwise stated and are subject to change until a deposit is paid and a booking is confirmed in writing.
3. Payment
- A deposit (typically 30–50% of the total tour cost) is required to confirm your booking.
- The remaining balance is due before the start of your trip, by the date specified in your booking confirmation.
- Accepted payment methods include bank transfer, mobile money, and card payment through our designated payment processors, as advised at the time of booking.
- Failure to pay the balance by the due date may result in cancellation of your booking under our Cancellation Policy.
- All prices are quoted in US Dollars (USD) unless stated otherwise. Bank charges, transfer fees, or currency conversion costs incurred in making payment are the responsibility of the client.
4. Cancellations, Changes, and Refunds
Cancellations, date changes, and refunds are governed by our separate Cancellation Policy, available on our Site, which forms part of these Terms. In summary:
- Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are non-refundable and non-transferable once purchased.
- Deposits and tour costs are refundable on a sliding scale depending on how far in advance you cancel.
- We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical evacuation, and permit loss.
Please refer to the full Cancellation Policy for details before booking.
5. Your Responsibilities as a Traveler

By booking with us, you agree that you:
- Are responsible for obtaining a valid passport (with at least six months’ validity beyond your travel dates), visas, and any required travel documents for Uganda, Rwanda, or other countries on your itinerary.
- Are responsible for obtaining appropriate travel and medical insurance, including cover for emergency evacuation, before departure.
- Will disclose any medical conditions, mobility limitations, or fitness concerns relevant to trekking activities prior to booking, as gorilla trekking involves hiking in steep, forested terrain at altitude and may not be suitable for all travelers.
- Will comply with the instructions of our guides, drivers, and park rangers at all times, including rules set by national park authorities for your safety and the protection of wildlife.
- Are responsible for your own conduct and behavior during the trip, and for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from failure to follow safety guidance or park rules.
- Must be in reasonably good health to participate in trekking activities; certain activities may have minimum age requirements (for example, gorilla trekking permits are generally not issued to travelers under 15 years of age, per Uganda Wildlife Authority rules).
6. Health, Safety, and Assumption of Risk
Travel in Uganda and the surrounding region, including gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, wildlife viewing, and travel on rural roads, carries inherent risks, including but not limited to wildlife encounters, uneven or slippery terrain, altitude, insect-borne illness, and variable road and weather conditions.
By booking with us, you acknowledge and accept these inherent risks. We take reasonable care in selecting reputable guides, drivers, and partners, and in following recognized safety practices, but we cannot guarantee your safety and are not liable for injury, illness, loss, or death arising from risks inherent to travel and wildlife trekking, except where caused by our proven negligence.
7. Our Role and Liability for Third-Party Services
Many elements of your trip — including gorilla permits, flights, lodges, and certain transport — are provided by third parties (such as the Uganda Wildlife Authority, airlines, and independently operated lodges). While we take care in selecting reputable partners:
- We act as an intermediary in arranging these third-party services and are not the direct provider of them.
- We are not liable for the acts, omissions, negligence, cancellations, or service failures of independent third-party suppliers, though we will assist you in resolving issues wherever possible.
- Our overall liability to you for any claim arising from your booking is limited to the amount you paid to us for the affected Service, except where liability cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
8. Itinerary Changes
While we make every effort to deliver your itinerary as booked, we reserve the right to make reasonable changes to routes, accommodation, or activities where necessary due to circumstances such as weather, park closures, safety concerns, or matters beyond our control (see our Cancellation Policy for force majeure provisions). Where possible, we will offer a comparable alternative and notify you in advance.
9. Photography and Media
Photographs or videos taken by our guides or staff during your trip may occasionally be used for promotional purposes on our Site, social media, or marketing materials, unless you notify us in writing that you do not wish to be included. We will make reasonable efforts to honor such requests but cannot guarantee removal of previously published material.

If you have a concern during your trip, please raise it with your guide or driver immediately so we can attempt to resolve it in real time. If a matter remains unresolved, please submit a written complaint to info@ugandagorillatours.com within 30 days of the end of your trip, and we will investigate and respond promptly.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your booking with us shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Uganda, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may hold under the law of your country of residence.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or business practices.
