2 Days Mgahinga Gorilla Tour
Day 1 - Transfer from Rwanda to Mgahinga National Park
The safari starts with an early morning drive from Kigali, Rwanda, to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda, which takes about 3 hours depending on border formalities. Upon arrival at the park headquarters near Ntebeko Gate, settle into nearby accommodations such as Kisoro or Lake Mutanda lodges. The afternoon can be spent relaxing or enjoying a short nature walk to appreciate the scenic landscape of the Virunga Mountains. Dinner and overnight rest prepare you for the gorilla trekking day ahead.
Day 2 - Gorilla Trekking in Mgahinga
After an early breakfast, the day begins with a briefing at the park headquarters on gorilla trekking guidelines. The trek through the dense forest can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on where the Nyakagezi gorilla family is located. Once found, spend up to one hour observing these endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch before departing back to Rwanda ending in Kigali city or airport.
