3 Days Murchison Safari
Day 1: Journey to Murchison Falls Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Start early from Kampala or Entebbe and drive approximately 5-6 hours northwest to Murchison Falls National Park. On the way, visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an exciting guided rhino tracking experience on foot where you will have a chance to see critically endangered white rhinos up close in a protected environment. After this enriching encounter, continue the drive to Murchison Falls, arriving in time for dinner and overnight accommodation near the park.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Nile Boat Cruise
Rise early for a morning game drive in the Buligi area of Murchison Falls National Park. The game drive offers excellent opportunities to see large herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, lions, leopards, Uganda kobs, warthogs, and various antelope species. The park boasts over 76 species of mammals and is also a haven for birdwatchers.
Return to your lodge for lunch and rest before heading out for a late afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River, traveling upstream to the base of the mighty falls. Along the way, spot pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles basking on riverbanks, and flocks of colorful birds including kingfishers, hornbills, and the rare shoebill stork. The boat cruise finishes just tens of meters from the roaring "Devil’s Cauldron," where the Nile is forced through a narrow 8m gorge, plunging 43 meters below.
Day 3: Visit the Top of Murchison Falls & Return to Kampala
After breakfast, set out for a visit to the top of Murchison Falls. A short hike or drive takes you to the viewpoint of this spectacular waterfall where the Nile crashes with immense power down the escarpment, creating a mesmerizing cloud of spray and a roaring sound all around. This view highlights the raw natural force of the falls, making it one of Africa’s most powerful natural phenomena.
Afterward, begin the return journey to Kampala with a late afternoon arrival. Optional stops may include local cultural visits or a picnic along the way.
