Gorilla Habituation Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Entebbe / Kampala → Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Rushaga)
Depart early morning by private 4×4 for the scenic road journey southwest to Bwindi, breaking along the way at the Equator crossing and viewpoints overlooking the western Rift Valley. The drive takes approximately 8–9 hours, so settle in, enjoy the changing landscape from highland farmland to volcanic hills, and arrive at your Rushaga-area lodge by early evening in time for dinner and an early night — tomorrow starts before sunrise.
Prefer to skip the road time? Ask about upgrading to a scheduled fly-in to a nearby airstrip, with a shorter road transfer to Rushaga.

Day 2: Gorilla Habituation Experience
An early breakfast is followed by a short drive to Rushaga park headquarters for your 7:30 AM briefing with UWA rangers and the resident research team, who'll walk you through what stage your assigned gorilla family — Bushaho or Bukingyi — is currently at in the habituation process.
The trek begins at 8:00 AM. Expect steep, densely forested terrain that can take anywhere from 1 to several hours to cover, depending on where the family was last located. Once you find them, you'll spend up to four hours alongside the trackers, watching the family forage, rest, and interact, and getting a rare look at exactly how habituation is done — not just its result.
You'll return to park headquarters by mid-to-late afternoon, followed by a transfer back to your lodge for a hot shower, a well-earned dinner, and time to look back through the day's photos.

Day 3: Bwindi → Entebbe / Kampala
After breakfast, begin the return road journey to Entebbe or Kampala, arriving in the evening in time for onward travel or your international flight. (Ask us about breaking this drive with an overnight stop, or extending your trip with Lake Bunyonyi, a Batwa cultural walk, or a wildlife safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park.)
